The Magic of Science is a show for children ages 5-12 that shows children some of the science used by magicians to perform their tricks.  It is an interactive and engaging 1 hour performance where everyone in the audience gets to participate.  Shows can be held for audiences up to 100 children.

$300/show with multiple, same-day workshop discounts.



​WORKSHOPS
 

Workshops are subject specific explorations where children get to build and experiment with a scientific concept, discovering the truth about nature for themselves.  Workshops vary in length, but are usually longer than 1 hour.  Children may build a rollercoaster to explore motion, ride a hovercraft to learn about friction or explore sound using a variety of materials.

 

Workshops are a chance for in-depth, hands-on learning for groups up to 25.

Topics include:

 

Sound

    Learn about how sound is produced, travels and how it can be controlled.  We will use a variety of everyday items to produce sound and create our own network to carry sound waves.

 

Simple Machines

    Levers, pulleys, gears, wheels and axles!  Seems pretty simple, but it is amazing what you can accomplish with simple machines.  Lift amazing weights, build a rubber band car that you can take home.

 

 

Construction

    Learn to fight gravity and build strong tall structures.  Using unusual materials, we will consider structures found in nature and human architecture as we learn how to build so that structures are stable and can withstand gravity.

 

Forces and Motion

    Using rollercoasters and a hovercraft, we will explore forces, motion and the friction that resists motion.  Newton never had so much fun!

 

Kitchen Chemistry

    Learn how the chemicals in your kitchen are a great way to explore the wonders of chemistry.  Beyond baking soda and vinegar, we will make new materials. test characteristics and learn safety requirements.  Each child leaves with experiments to do at home.
